Simply creating a comfortable pair of bib shorts is old hat for Louis Garneau. Instead, for the Course Race Bib Shorts, Garneau was inspired to incorporate heightened levels of aerodynamics and breathability into the design. So, the result is a minimally seamed, multi-fabric construction that rewrites the rule book on race-day bib shorts. Starting with the shorts portion of the Course Race, Garneau used its Lazer Rev fabric for the construction. This material features a knit that has a high percentage of Lycra fibers in its composition. This means that you"ll experience more muscle support in comparison to heavy polyester blends. Why is this important? Well, more support translates to less muscle movement from road vibration, and thus, less muscle fatigue. Additionally, even though the Course Race isn"t a designated compression piece, you can still expect a slight improvement to blood flow, correlating directly to a reduction of lactic acid buildup. Even better, Lazer Rev has been designed to retain its shape after expanding for body conformity. So, the fabric"s shape, fit, and compressive qualities don"t run the risk of degradation. And outside of the Lazer Rev"s compressive properties, the material is highly breathable, as well. This has been further complemented by Garneau"s placement of both Power Mesh and Carbon X-Mesh at the bib straps -- frequent contributors to overheating. At the lower portion and rear window, the Course Race features the Power Mesh fabric. This mesh provides an easy ventilation route for excess core heat. It"s also featured at these points because of its 20% spandex composition. This allotment of stretchable material provides the necessary flexibility and soft-to-the-touch contact for heavy points of articulation. As for the uppers, Garneau used the Carbon X-Mesh primarily for its gentle grip and anti-static properties.
